PICTURE OF THE WEEK — THE MOMENT

So, we’re coming to the end of the year and I have one more wedding to see the year through on the 31st. That will be a very special one with Adam and Tiffany, quite possibly the loveliest folks you could meet.

In the first week of January, I’ll no doubt look back on 2011 with some of my favorite images posted right here.  For now though, this is one of my favorite shots of the year. It’s not  a pretty bride, or a beautiful scenic. No. But is a lovely timed shot of two kids having fun during Savanna and John’s wedding (again- wow, see post below). The compositional elements, the color, the shallow depth of field (shot with a Leica M9 and Summilux F1.4), the leap of the little boy as the girl looks on and a bit of luck makes this shot one of my favorites of the year.

One of my favorite photographers is Henri Cartier Bresson who coined the ‘decisive moment’ and whom I often write about here. He’s the master of capturing the moment and the one I look toward for inspiration, knowledge and how to. If I can inch a little more toward his way of thinking and seeing the moment, then that is where I want to be.

Leave your comments and I look forward to hearing from you.
