Katie + Owen | The Havana | La Orilla Del Rio Ballroom Wedding

Congratulations to Katie and Owen, an amazing couple who wed a few weekends ago at La Orilla Del Rio Ballroom in San Antonio, Texas. Friends and family came from all over the world, including Taiwan, St. Lucia, the UK and the U.S.A. for this extraordinary multicultural wedding. The day truly felt like a microcosm of humanity, all here to celebrate Katie and Owen’s special day. These curated images are full of emotion showing their love for each other. And boy, as you will see, it was fun.

Katie and her friends and family started getting ready at Hotel Havana, my favorite downtown hotel.  In 1914, local grocer Edward Franz Melcher opened Hotel Havana to recreate the hotel’s Caribbean namesake. He built in the Mediterranean Revival style popular in Cuba at the time, and many of the surrounding cypress, palm and magnolia trees he planted still remain. Continuing the history, but with a modern look, is La Orilla Del Rio Ballroom. What was once the city’s public library for more than 25 years is now a venue. It has a spectacular view of downtown San Antonio from the balcony. You can see these views in the pictures.

It was great to work with Nancy Hernandez, owner of Eventfully Yours, the fabulous Miranda Laine, second shooter and cinema photographer, Mark Thomas (no relation). Thanks for the trust, Katie and Owen. Congratulations to you both!  Journey with me to see their day.
